Lynne Cook
Like many people my age, my first camera was a “Box Brownie”. I was fascinated that you could capture what you were seeing and then get it printed. Magic. I’ve had other cameras throughout my life but really became more interested in retirement, when I was given my first digital camera.
Still-Life, Landscapes and macro photography are my favourite subjects but I also love to fiddle in post-production trying to produce different artistic effects whilst putting my own touch to an image.
My husband and I decided to join the Camera Club for several reasons. One to improve our photography, to share an activity and to meet people after returning to the Island. Since joining the Camera Club I can see a marked improvement in my images. I enjoy the bi-monthly set Topics as well as the extra challenges, which gets you out of your comfort zone and fires up your imagination and creativity. Socializing through the Camera Club is also enjoyable, through congregating for lunch before the meeting, over-night excursions, day excursions and at workshops. We have a lot of fun.
Becoming more involved with the Camera Club Management Committee I am learning new things which offer steep learning curves. I have found in life, the more you put into something the more benefits you receive back, and the richer your life becomes. Well worth the invested time and effort.
I recommend you become involved.
