Q & A’s
I am interested in finding out more information about the camera club and how to be part of it and what it involves. Also, what is the ongoing commitment?
- Thankyou for your inquiry. We have a monthly meeting at which we have a judge evaluate images which have been submitted by members on a set topic, a monthly challenge images are shown, the judge will quite often have a presentation from which we can learn, a post-processing tip and sometimes a “five minutes of fame” where members do a presentation of their images. The judge is usually accredited through VAPS (Victorian Association of Photographic Societies). So as you can see we are mainly geared to learn to improve our photographic skills.
- Workshops are also organised throughout the year.
- We also have excursions, which provide photographic opportunities as well as a chance to socialise with other members sharing the same interests.
- There are opportunities to show in local and national exhibitions also.
- There is no pressure put on you to commit to anything. I have found in life the more you put into something the more you get out of it. Entering the monthly evaluation allows us to learn how we can improve our images. I can certainly see an improvement in my images from when I started.
- Our meetings are held on the first Monday in the month (except for public holidays and Cup Weekend when it goes to the second Monday) at 1:30 pm, at the The Newhaven Yacht club, Newhaven
Do you have to have any certain type of camera to join?

- The main requirement is a love of photography and a desire to learn how to improve your images.
